Patch 1.0.4: Physics and Visual Update
Jumping Jax Patch Notes — February 1, 2021
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
This patch we focused on 2 major features:
- a rework of the physics system
- all new visual design
The old physics system was fragile, and the underlying Unity code it used wasn't well documented for edge cases. So, the outcome is a more robust player controller that can handle stairs, ramps, and whatever level designers can throw at it (hopefully).
The old visuals of Jumping Jax just weren't good enough for us (or you guys). We are in the process of recreating all of the levels in the game. This patch features the rework of Hop1 and Hop2. The state of the levels is their final pass solely for the layout. None of the new buildings or materials are quite ready yet, but we wanted to show you guys where we are headed.
Now, for the rest of the patch notes!
- Level editor publishing. The button now greys out if you don't have the required prefabs. It also greys out while it is uploading to steam so you can't do it multiple times on accident anymore
- Found the issue where the game freezes while switching levels. We made a video explaining how we found the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RA2YPdJbx4
- We reworked the tutorial system. It's not implemented into any of the levels yet, but now we can give you more detailed advice if you keep failing at a certain spot.
We will continue to monitor the way you guys learn, and adapt the tutorials accordingly. - Added a discord link to the main menu
- Ghost runs now properly load
- Added Master Volume slider in Audio Options
- Fixed bug where audio options weren't properly saving
- In the level editor, if you hit "play" you will now jump to a "first checkpoint", if there is one.
- TONS of new models and materials are being created, and will likely be in the next patch!
