EXOME Patch Notes — March 5, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hey everyone,
I know it’s been a long time since the last game update (21 months ago), and I really appreciate everyone who’s stuck with me. As a solo developer, things naturally take longer - especially for a multiplayer game - but EXOME is not abandoned. I’m still actively working on the next update, along with foundational improvements that will support future updates as well.
I understand the silence can be frustrating, but I’d rather show progress when it’s meaningful rather than make promises too early. Because of that, I’m not ready to give a release date just yet - I want to make sure everything is in good shape before announcing anything.
What's Next: Public Testing Branch
I also want to share my plans for how the next update will roll out. To ensure the best experience, I’ll be publishing a public testing branch before the full release of Update 1. This branch will be available to anyone who owns the game, allowing players to try out new content early while helping me track down bugs and stability issues, as well as test new features that aren’t currently in the game.
There’s no set date for this yet - I want to make sure it’s in a working state before opening it up for testing. Once the testing phase is complete and major issues are ironed out, Update 1 will be officially released for everyone.
What to Expect: Foundational Updates
Many of EXOME’s systems have undergone full reworks to support my long-term plans for the game’s future. A lot of these systems are invisible - you don’t notice them until they aren’t working. In the initial build of EXOME, many of these implementations were more like glorified prototypes. I didn’t put much effort into them at the time because I wasn’t sure if EXOME would find an audience. But it looks like it has, and that motivates me to deliver quality content for it. However, this also meant that many systems and mechanics needed to be reworked to be more modular. This will reduce the time required for future content and potentially allow for more frequent updates.
I want to set expectations for Update 1. The main goal is to implement the boss fight and properly conclude this area. With modular systems now in place, Update 2 and future updates won’t take as long to develop. By taking the time to restructure things now, subsequent updates should be able to be released much faster.
I appreciate everyone’s patience and support. More details will come as things get closer. Thank you for sticking with me!
