Tutorial Update 1.1.2! New Power and Inda Sequence!!
Colonials Programme Patch Notes — February 14, 2021
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hello! It's time for another update to Colonials Programme! This time, I've made more improvements to the tutorial of the game. The previous update to the tutorial was Update 1.0.3, which was a long time ago. And while it did streamline the tutorial, I mentioned that more could be done to improve it still. Again, the beginning of the game is rather rough and difficult to get into, so I hope that this update will improve the experience.
One of the new things I've added, is a new exclamation mark indicator that hovers above a machine, when it lacks a certain resource. Back in the day, when this occurs, it will simply show the box indicator, which is exactly the same as the one used to indicate that the machine is not connected to the resource grid. Understandably, this could be confusing to new players. So, I decided to create this new indicator to clear up any misconceptions.
This generator is connected to the resource grid, but it is missing Ikat!
Next, I've also added two new tutorial sequences, akin to the one teaching the basics of grid management. These two new sequences will ensure that new players have a basic understanding of the two most important resources; Power and Inda. When I implemented the grid tutorial sequence, I really liked the concept of it. It teaches you how to expand each grid accordingly, then it tests your understanding of it. I think that this is a great way to explain the complicated mechanics of CP, so I tried my best to mimic it with these new sequences. I don't think it's as clean as the grid sequence, but hopefully, it'll still be a more engaging and fun experience for new players.
Fix the Power Shortage!
Also, all the tutorial pop-ups that occur during the game itself have been updated to the style of the new UI design. It's nice that, they do not stick out like a sore thumb any longer. Of course, I still have plans to update the UI of the Main Menu, Campaign Menu and Map Editor, so you expect those soon! The summarized tutorials were also hopelessly outdated, so I decided to update those as well.
The tutorial screens are looking a lot nicer now!
That's it for this week! If you haven't gotten the game already, there's still a discount following Steam's Lunar New Year Sale, so be sure to check it out! Thank you once again for your support! :)
