Update 9
Sep 18, 2024
With update 9, we have refactored the procedural level generator's room selection and prioritization for each of the missions, with the biggest impact coming on missions that feature a "branching" layout design, taking much better advantage of the various large and small POI rooms for a more interesting layout and more active rooms.
The HUD also got some love, with the look getting pushed further towards a projected / AR / hologram style effect, with matching updates to the helmet interior that surrounds it.
Some of the experimental missions also got updates to better spawn threats and spawn them with a bit more diversity in which types it chooses and when. Additionally, player icons will now show each player's proper facing direction on the Map Tool screen, not just the player holding the map! It's a small fix, but a big quality of life boost for helping other players navigate using the map.
Check out the list below for the full set of change notes!
Gameplay
- New distraction device sound fx that is less noisy and annoying
- Heavily refactored procedural map spawn sets to add more variation and more appearance of large and small POI rooms, especially on missions with a “branching” layout type
- Threats are now much less likely to accidentally kill themselves on a mine when no players are around. For now this means they’re a bit TOO good at avoiding them, but mines are also great when intentionally triggered with a laser shot while we work on finding a middle ground 🙂
- New threat type added to M01-EX
- Threat spawns set up better for missions that spawn zombies/blobs
Art
- Reworking HUD stylization for a better, more cohesive look
- Updates to helmet interior mesh/textures to better align with the updated HUD
Stability & General Bugs
- Fixed a bug where mines could be thrown and stick to nothing, floating in mid air
- Fixed and improved red ‘taking damage’ screen flash to not be warped by the HUD projection and to have a softer, more fade-in-from-the-edges look
- Fixed an alignment issue that would occasionally happen with mission update text
- Fixed Map Tool readout to properly display each player’s facing direction
- Fixed the missing collision on the new carryable cryo tanks
