MeowGun: Hell Denizen Patch Notes — May 29, 2024

Version 8 includes new death animations for all monsters (except the little acid bugs) and Player Character got a new Cat Combat Armor Suit and can do a melee attack any time with the Power Meow button. There's new models and polishing for some of the weapons. Specular/normal maps were removed due to them looking too often like molten plastic.

Levels:
- Level 01 - 03:
Missile Launchers changed to Grenade Launchers (except the secret one in Level 03)
Level 03 also got some minor geometry/lighting changes to the start area - Level 04 and Secret 99:
Grenade Launchers changed to Missile Launchers - Level 12:
Moved the level geometry around for a bit to fix Standard Dynamic lights not working in the level
If you have a save game in the level, you may need to use the Restart Level menu option
Monsters:
- Fixed monsters spawning rapidly without limits in Survival mode
- Knight got a new death animation
- Trooper got a new death animation
- Zombie:
New death animation
Some blood on the texture - Fiend got a new death animation
- Demon Spawn got a new death animation
- Demon Knight/Lord:
New death animation
Their grenades make ticking sounds - Floater got a new death animation
- Watchdog:
New death animation
Improved textures - Spikemouth:
Proper animations
Tail attack can do a bit more damage - Flying Maggot got proper animations
- Dimensional Shambler:
New death animation
Fixed death spinning - Hunter/Berserker/Rocketeer:
New death animation
Missile attacks are now 12 frames long, which fixes the death_a corpse frame having a floating hand
Fixed the Berserker & Rocketeer sight sounds
Fixed Rocketeers unable to fly
Allow Berserker & Rocketeer to run charge like the Hunters - Some tweaks for corpses spinning underwater
Player:
- New Model & Texture
Default colors for player 1 and 2 got flipped (does not affect current settings)
Also got a new death animation - Fixed player losing weapons if respawning on Level 01 or Level 11 (only lose on the first time spawn)
- Power Meow:
Also does a Double Cat Claw attack
If the Power Meow has charged and doing the Double Cat Claw, must release the button and press again
Default bindings are: MB3, R and GP_Y (or X depending on the gamepad button layout?)
Note: if you've played v7 or earlier, R and GP_Y might be bound to an incorrect action (earlier it did an impulse, now it's a button to allow repeat action) - Starting Magnum Flares decreased to 3
Weapons:
- Magnum Pistol:
Double ones have better recoil animation in first person view
Randomly punch with left/right if at melee range
Added some swoosh sound to the melee
Maximum Magnum Flares decreased to 18 - Lightning Ripper has some polish
- Railgun:
New model
Can't do friendly fire damage in coop with the shock/blasted effect - Grenade Launcher:
New model
6 shots before reload cooldown - Rocket Launcher:
Model has some polish
4 shots before relod cooldown
Little faster, but reload cooldown is a little slower - Plasmagun model has some adjustment and green lights
- New Grenade models
- Explosions can spawn some chunks if they hit near a wall
- Bullets can spawn random chunks sometimes
Powerups & Items:
- Catnomicon:
Combat: Can fire alternate fires without alternate fire ammos (costs more regular ammo)
Armor: Take 90% damage and 50% self damage even without armor points
Treatment: Health items give 120% of the normal amount
Sport: No plasmagun cooldown after firing (it already removed other reload cooldowns) - Dropped Power Ammo no longer gives player the Machinegun
- Armor items have new textures
Menu & Settings:
- Added Restart Level menu items into the Game and Multiplayer menus
May be useful if loading a save game from an earlier version
Score and inventory is kept - Chasecam can be bound to a key/button, default: o
- Chasecam settings added to Player Setup menu
- Removed normal and specular maps
- Specular is back to a on/off toggle
Off is default - Standard dynamic lights are the new default (doesn't affect current settings)
- Turned off the ingame automatic normal map generation
- Added a possibility to disable the Catnomicon powers into the Gameplay Settings
If disabled, they just give some health, armor or ammo similar to if Powerups are disabled
