Another 'Patch 0.8 - Pandemic' information post
SurrounDead Patch Notes — December 19, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hey everyone, December is truly here and with that I have an update on 0.8, work has been going well but Christmas has been fast approaching. So to address the elephant in the room; I'm looking to drop an experimental patch around the new year and I will update on this after Christmas day/boxing day (26th) after I have had a small break from everything. Once, all issues and more are sorted in the experimental build I will push the update to stable. How long this takes will depend on what needs to be fixed, changed or even added to.
Now with that news, while I have said some of the stuff coming to 0.8, below is a larger list, stating some of the stuff coming;
Engine upgrade from 5.3 to 5.6
Upgraded bunkers (Doesn't include empty bunkers players can build in)
New behind the scenes player skeleton; with new animations from bolt action animations, to shotgun, to melee, fishing and more
Infection system; the player can be grabbed/bit and die from the infection without medical help
New POIs
Traders items now save until their reset at 10am every in game day
Zombies react to damage
New graphical setting to enable screen space or lumen global illumination/reflections (Disabled by default)
New difficulty settings
New zombie archetypes
More graphics settings
New items; fish, clothing, weapons, etc
Improved spawning of AI so there isn't a gap in the distance between you seeing them and them being able to navigate
All difficulty settings now save with your save game (Before only a few selected did)
More efficient/optimised way to refuel/repair vehicles
Adjustments to the first person camera
Optimisation to multiple aspects of the game
A multitude of fixes and more quality of life improvements
And a lot more...
YOUR CURRENT SAVE WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH 0.8
This is something I've seen mentioned some times. With any large update I'd always recommend creating a new save, though this is not required with 0.8 and your saves will carry on!
Finally, I know a lot of people have been waiting extremely patient for 0.8 and there is still some time needed extra to get the update into your hands, so look forward to it and all the content that will follow 0.8 in the new year!
From everyone at Surroundead, Happy Holidays!
