BlazeSky Patch Notes — August 13, 2020
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
tl;dr - if you prefer to play with keyboard and mouse, this release is for you!
BlazeSky is, in many ways, a dual-stick shooter. I expected most people to play with a game controller, not a keyboard and mouse. Watching streamers play the game, it became painfully obvious that a lot of people prefer keyboard and mouse. This release adds proper mouse support, making keyboard and mouse a first-class option.
Notable Features & Enhancements:
- The mouse can now be used to fire the turrets, activate items, and zoom in and out with the scroll wheel.
- Many bug fixes related to the control mapper/customizer.
- Added the photo mode button to the game controller by default.
- Save files are now written to a folder on disk, instead of the player preferences. This will (shortly) allow for Steam Cloud save support. Unfortunately, it does mean you will lose your save files. As nobody has access to the game right now except for early testers... so it goes.
- All story dialog and new, updated barks have been added to the game. New jump in/out SFX. New engine SFX.
- A debug mode has been added. Add the entry "-debug 1" to the launch options to see it. Hopefully you shouldn't need it at all, but if the game isn't launching on low end hardware it might be helpful to diagnose what's going on.
- Google Translate versions of the game are now available in eight languages. I think I found a bug where if the game was launched on a not-supported locale (e.g. Swedish) it would hang on launch - if you have a non-English machine (either supported or not), please give it a whirl and let me know. The game should launch, attempt to auto-detect your language and switch to that if available, defaulting to English.
- Shipyard now shows more detailed statistics for equipped items.
- Merchants now show the delta between the currently equipped item and the item being offered.
- Added "fog" to certain areas (e.g. particle fields, comets, final boss areas).
- The game now includes endings for all of the main missions. Endings for all five main mission givers unlock after the Big Boss encounter - you can complete them in any order.
