TaskPals News — September 15, 2024
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hello everyone! Long time no see
TaskPals was born as a hobby project. Nothing more or less, I made it for myself and my close friends. After seeing how much they enjoyed using it, I thought it would be a good idea to release it and make it possible for other people to enjoy it as well. More than a year has passed since I released this project and the attention which TaskPals got in that time was crazy for me to even think was possible. Honestly, I didn't give the time it deserved, for which I am very sorry. Currently, I am working full-time on a new release which should bring us some long-overdue changes.
Workshop Support!
I am very happy to announce that TaskPals will be getting full workshop support, allowing its users to create and share new Pals however they want. This was something that I was thinking of doing from the very start but lacked knowledge of how to, which is why I went with DLCs as a way for an additional content. This type of app shouldn't be limited by its developer and its content creation should be available to all its users. The plan is for the app to have a simple editor, which will make it possible for everyone to turn their ideas into their own Pals, which they can later share with their friends! I am trying my best to make said editor as easy and straightforward as I can.
Change of payment model
With the addition of the workshop support, DLCs won't be needed anymore. For now, the idea is to make TaskPals a paid app which will include all the DLCs by default. Whoever had TaskPals and/or any DLCs before the change of model will get to keep it (No need to buy it again). I will try to be fair to everyone as much as I can. Soon option to buy of DLCs will become unavailable (ALL CONTENT FROM DLCs WILL BECOME FREE FOR USERS WHO OWN TASKPALS)!
Rework, new features and bug fixes
As I said earlier, the current version of TaskPals is a slightly modified version of the app that I made for myself. This means that it wasn't really a good place to start building on new, more complex things. For the past few months I have been reworking everything, trying to make it a lot better, stable and optimized for new things I have in mind.
I want to keep the base of TaskPals pretty simple and straightforward. My goal is to make an app for everyone. But I would also like to add more options and customization options to the Pals in future editors can fully express their ideas.
When to Expect the Update
I have most of the core stuff done. There are still things which I have to do and, most importantly, I have to test everything to make absolutely sure everything works fine. My rough estimation for this is 2 or 3 months. I will try to give you monthly updates so you can know what and when to expect.
Final words
I think I covered it all. As always, I would like to thank everyone who's using and supporting TaskPals, this wouldn't have been possible without you! Hopefully, you will like new things and enjoy them even more than before! Once again, THANK YOU for you understanding!
