You might have already heard the crackling in the air. Lightning is about to strike for the third time with 2026's biggest shoot 'em up release: R-Type Dimensions III.

After R-Type I and II have been expertly remade and brought back in R-Type Dimensions and later even further improved in R-Type Dimensions EX, the next legend is being prepared for lift-off!
32 years ago, R-Type III: The Third Lightning took the SNES by storm. Fast-paced, just like in the arcades, highly detailed 16-bit spritework, and a soundtrack that pushed players forward in the struggle against the relentless hordes of the menacing BYDO empire.

And now, in May of 2026, this shoot 'em up legend will be retold in a completely new but entirely faithful way. Every stage, boss, and projectile pattern has been rebuilt with high-end 3D graphics, enhanced animations, and richly detailed environments, while preserving the instantly recognizable atmosphere that defined R-Type’s identity.
In addition to the rich soundscapes of the original, a completely new rocky arrangement will get the adrenaline pumping as you dodge and shoot your way through the 6 stages in your R-90 Ragnarok starfighter.
