Probe Patch Notes — May 1, 2020
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hello Everyone!
Here is the 1st of 2 Updates on Probe. This one is focused around the game controls.
Update Summary:
- Added Controls to the Settings page in the Main Menu
- Can now switch to/from Xbox Controller and Keyboard from Main Menu/Settings
- Can now choose from 1 of 3 Keyboard/Mouse control configurations including 2 keyboard only
- Updated "Tutorial" to reflect the currently selected control configuration
- Removed forced Steam controller input being set as Steam's default WASD configuration on boot
Note: You can still always switch to a controller anytime in the game by plugging it in and pressing a button or using the joysticks and then easily switch back to mouse and keyboard by pressing any key.
More Information:
I have been receiving some good feedback and suggestions that I have begun to integrate into Probe. This first update is a technical one. Some people were unaware you could use a controller since there was no display of it in the "Settings" page so I added the control layout to the settings tab where you can also switch to and from controller (if it is plugged in). In addition to the original keyboard/mouse control layout I've added 2 additional Keyboard only configurations that no longer require the mouse to play since some people were having issues with clicking out of the game window when playing.
There was also a Steam Input setting that was forced on that was causing some to have issues with the controls being what they should be. It was forcing a "WASD" to controller mapping configuration set by Steams Controller Configurations. I have turned this off but not sure if it will be reflected for previous owners so if your controls in the "Settings" tab in game for the Xbox controller do not match what they are when playing try going to the Steam Properties tab for Probe and turn this setting off. (see image)
If any players would like to see specific control layouts for keyboard/mouse input please feel free to comment them or PM them to me and I will see about adding them.
The next update will be an aesthetic one coming out soon with an added soundtrack and design variation in backgrounds for each level. If you would like to watch the progress on this live and even make some suggestions I will be streaming it on my twitch later tonight around 8pm(Central):
