This year marks the 10th year of Orake's existence on Steam and the 6th year of us owning the game. As many of you know we haven't been working on or providing any big updates on Orake in many years and we believe it is time for Orake to come to a close. We really appreciate everyone sticking with us through the craziness of the game exchanging hands and trusting us to take the game to a better place and hope we achieved that to some standard. When we took over we were just a group of players wanting to continue to keep Orake alive for others to continue to enjoy and we were able to do that for six years, so thank you very much for helping with that!
The server will be going offline on March 1st should you choose to want to play one last time, and we won't be accepting any more sales. As a send-off thank you, we have changed all the Aracia cosmetic chest items to be sold for 1 coin and we added in membership and both the bless items to the small cosmetics chest to the left of the Aracia Bank. This discord server is going to stay open as long as physically possible to serve as a museum of memories of sorts. We already started to archive some live server specific chats in to read-only and will continue to do so as it gets closer to March 1st.
Questions and Answers
Q: Wait, what's happening?
A: We're shutting the game server down on March 1st and @God King Toro is planning to post the server files/code and recording a video tutorial to assist in helping you set up a local server, should you want to continue to play, after the server shuts down on March 1st.
Q: Can I still play Orake?
A: Yes! The live server will stay open until March 1st and after that you hopefully will be able to run your own locally hosted server as long as everything works out.
Q: The post said I could get cosmetics, membership and exp boosts in-game for 1 coin, where is that?
A: All the cosmetics in the chests around the Aracia bank have been changed from Ork Coins to regular Coins and the membership and exp boosts were added in the small chest to the left of the Aracian Bank chest.
Q: Am I able to use the account from the live server on the private server?
A: Yes! After the server is officially shut down on March 1st, you'll have to message me (@ Zacuum) in DMs to confirm you are the owner of said account to get your save data file to paste in to your files and then you can log in as normal after you set up your local server to connect to.
Q: What's going to happen to the Discord server?
A: The Discord server for the game will be left open as long as physically possible. We are going to archive most of the channels in to read-only after the server shuts down as they won't be necessary going forward.
Q: What's going to happen to the Steam and Itch.io listings?
A: Both of them should be unpublished/delisted and you won't be able to view the pages anymore. The game should stay in your library, though it won't connect you to any server.
Q: Will I still be able to use the Wikia for information on the game?
