iGrow Game Patch Notes — April 20, 2017
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Well it's been almost a year since I launched iGrow Game on steam and before that it had been released on itch.io for about a year and a half. Not only is 420 the main holiday in the cannabis community, it also seems to be a milestone in the life of iGrow Game.
It all started one 420...
Well ok not quite! I'm not sure how it all started any more, it became just one of many projects at one point. I did abandon the game entirely at one point too when I came to actually coding the plant growing algorithm. Though after the 3rd total rewrite and 1000's of line's of code later. I managed to make something that appeared to work... Though actually was instead, very very broken. I worked myself thin and completely despised iGrow Game by this point but released it on itch.io anyway without properly testing anything. The game wasn't even playable until I got close to the point of releasing it either, so I never even played my own game other then testing as I went along! Anyways months, maybe a year later I finally looked back at it again and saw hope this time.
Actually this leads into the 420 part which is how iGrow Game's steam journey began at least. I noticed some youtubers had played the game and released videos. Of coarse one of them burned the game down to the ground for the broken mess it was at the time but the other youtuber (Chills504) didn't! He made light of the bugs and actually had some good things to say about the game. This inspired me to fix the game breaking bugs and push for a steam release and reach out to Chills504.
Since then me and chills504 stay in touch and help each other out where we can. So I would like to say thank you to Chills504 for inspiring me to carry on!
That all being said I didn't just want to wish everyone a happy 420. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has purchased iGrow Game, left me a nice comment, supported the game and of coarse everyone at steam for letting this be a reality!
I've talked to some amazing people from all over the world because of iGrow game. In my eyes this first year on steam has been a great success and I'll work harder to make the next one even more of a success! I'm no where near leaving my day job but the fact that something I designed and developed has been purchased by 50 shy of 5000, is truly amazing! Someone from nearly every country in the world has purchased a copy of iGrow game and that is really crazy to think!
So thank you all for supporting the future of iGrow game, please stay tuned for more, I'm definitely not finished yet. Have a great 420 and stay safe no matter what it is you'll be doing.
As always...
Happy Growing!
