We talked with publishers and many advised them to think about porting to mobile platforms and consoles. Unfortunately, the technology we are using for character animation does not work on mobile devices. So we will need to switch to traditional skeletal. In general, our current pipeline is focused on the speed of development, and optimization is not in the first place in it and, as a result, a large number of unoptimized assets. And now there is a great opportunity to fix everything at once.
The style changes from voxel to low poly - it looks more familiar and greatly reduces the load on the device. In addition, the characters will become more expressive and detailed and they will have improved animations. To begin with, we redid almost all the characters in the game, at the same time hooked the heaviest assets of the environment, added an outline, cel-shading. It turned out like this.
