The Spring Hinge Block! Coming 16th December
Gamecraft Patch Notes — December 11, 2020
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Earlier this week we revealed the reworked damped spring block. Today, we’re introducing a brand new block called the spring hinge block!

The spring hinge works a little bit like a normal hinge, except it has a resting position. This means that the spring will normally return back to its original position once no force is applied to it.
One of the best examples of this is creating a simple door and comparing the differences between a normal hinge block and the new spring hinge block
while using a spring hinge, you can see from the gif below that Leo has to put a little bit of force in to open the door. Once Leo is out of the way, the spring hinge will then return back to it’s set resting potion.

You can also configure the springs stiffness, damping, as well as its minimum and maximum angle.

Leo for example can only push through a door of this size when set to 0.1 stiffness. But a vehicle would be able to go through a door with greater stiffness settings due to the amount of power that vehicle would exert.
The spring hinge block can be used to even create alternative angled suspension. Here’s a test of the bug bot we created. Notice how the body of the vehicle is nearly motionless!

Leo can also use the spring as a diving board. With a well timed jump, you can launch leo higher than his standard jump too!

Tomorrow we’ll be revealing new door variants which will be a part of the 16th of December update.
