Hello survivors,
Thank you for your feedback as we continue to improve and update Expedition Zero. This patch 1.01.8 is a relatively big one and introduces quite a few changes and additions to the game. So let’s talk about all of this in order!
As always, please join our Discord server to share your feedback or bug reports with us, and keep an eye out for more patches and updates.
Patch notes
New monster type - A Bear

This new monster that lurks behind the trees in the dark has plenty of health and incredibly strong attacks. So it's best you don't get caught in the act!
- We’re also introducing the new type of flares that can be found around. You can use more strategic moves by throwing them to distract monsters and get yourself a few seconds to get away.
- We’ve also adjusted and added new safe zones where players can not be attacked by Strigoi.
- These zones are now functioning correctly. Keep an eye out on some new places to hide, like concrete pipes and huts!
Controller support (beta)
Controllers can now be used to play Expedition Zero. We’re still working on this, so if you have any feedback or if you encounter any issues, please let us know in the comments or in our Discord server.
- We’re introducing the new tutorial for players who use controllers. This will be detected automatically and players will see different UI when playing on different devices.
- Players can adjust the sensitivity and inversion settings for their controllers.
QOL and various fixes
- Added a new set of sounds and a gas mask icon when players enter the radiation cloud.
- Improved the landscape visualization to make the navigation a bit easier
- Players can now find and repair some of the broken heaters and battery chargers to have more resource control over the map.
- Improved UI for powering Suit Modules – more clear power state and on-screen button to turn it ON/OFF (instead of right-click context menu).
- Fixed an issue where subtitles could have disappeared too early.
- Fixed an issue where subtitles were not pausing when the game was on pause.
