Epic Battle Fantasy 5 Patch Notes — March 6, 2026
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hey everyone, it's been some time!
While I've been busy working on a new game, the community has been modding EBF5 and creating all sorts of new content.
Puri is working on a mod called Director's Cut that adds dozens of enemies from other EBF games, makes tweaks to the mechanics, adds new dialogue, skills and equips.
But they're also adding their own graphics and animations, so in addition to remixing existing EBF content, there's completely new content appearing too - including new bosses and small dungeons to find them in. I'm especially excited about this, because Flash art is pretty niche, and there's not many people left with the skills to make it from scratch. (even more so in my style)
Here's a gallery of some images from the mod:

The golem in that first screenshot isn't finished, so it's not in the mod yet.
But here's a video of a completely new boss, animated from scratch, that is ready to go:

5 years ago (that long?!) I made an announcement about Feit-Neo's mod called Tough Love.
They've been busy expanding the EBF5 experience by... adding more of everything, and making enemies smarter and harder. They've brought back a ton of equips from earlier games, and programmed tons of new accessories from various icons that weren't originally used in EBF5.
Here's an example of how insanely large some item menus are:
They've also added hair-color customisation, new UI skins, new bosses, new NPCs and side-quests, new cheats and challenges, and just way too many things to list. Another game-changer is the massive amount of new status effects.

I've also contributed by doing some icon art for this mod, btw!

If you want to try out these mods, you'll have to visit the EBF Discord server, and check out the releases on the #ebf_mod_archive channel. You'll need to use a patcher app to combine the mod files with the game files.
It's not the most straightforward process, but these are works-in-progress that are regularly being updated, and I'll try to make them more accessible in the future. (maybe by distributing them via beta branches on Steam)
You can also hang out there if you want to learn about modding!
Some small changes - like editing text and stats - are quite simple to do, and can be done with free tools like JPEXS.
Finally, my new EBF-spinoff Find Matt's Cats launches on March 16th!
Go add it to your wishlist and try the demo!
There's between 20 and 50 hours of content, and it's DRM-free, so you can easily make a copy for a casual gamer that you know.
You may have noticed that the name has changed... well... "Hidden Cats" was recently trademarked, so that caused a lot of headaches for the dozens of games that were already using that term.
Anyway, that's all I've got for now!
