GamePatchNote Digest
Eigengrau Patch Notes — May 27, 2026
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
This update includes some quality-of-life improvements suggested by players, some fixes for issues which came up during the Steam Deck compatibility review, and many general engine improvements.
- added alternative render style unlock, to enable pixel shading, retro shading, sepia shading, or overdraw mode
- added per-area leaderboards for classic mode (already filled with real data)
- added badge and trophy descriptions to the pause menu
- added a new option to configure game brightness
- changed screen-shake effect to actually shake the GUI instead of the game, but the old behavior can be restored by setting the screen-shake option to a negative value
- fixed game running too slow when playing with forced vsync or with a framerate limiter (like on Steam Deck)
- fixed rain drops on water not working on some graphics drivers
- fixed not being able to change the game resolution on Steam Deck and Gamescope
- improved high DPI support for Linux and macOS
- improved gamepad hot-plugging behavior for co-op mode
- improved overall performance
The game now also includes various alternative render styles as can be seen in the screenshots below. They can be unlocked by beating the true last boss or with the password UMBER.
Creating the update took a bit of time, as I kept finding new issues during testing which I wanted to fix before the release. If you find any bugs, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Thank you and have fun! 🙂
Martin
