Diesel Railcar Simulator Patch Notes — May 18, 2026

Gameplay patch 2
The second gameplay patch is now live with the following changes:
Penalties, scoring and achievements
- Fixed "moved at booked stop" penalty to not trigger too early when coupling onto another train
- Changed "driving from wrong cab" penalty to only trigger at 5+ mph
- Changed "powering against brakes" penalty to only apply if power and brake are both at least 50%
- Added a penalty for running with the handbrake on
- Added a penalty for changing gears without shutting power first
- Reduced the effect of economy on overall score
- Fixed perfection achievement to trigger for runs shorter than 10 miles
Controls
- Fixed railcar reverser handle to work with the mouse scroll wheel
- Fixed power handle to be off for rolling starts
HUD
- Fixed HUD station stop progress bar
- Added HUD view menu options for changing to next/previous car (useful for gamepads)
- Added HUD view menu options for changing cabs (useful for gamepads)
GUI
- Improved controls configuration screen colours to show which element is active in order to make keyboard and gamepad navigation easier
- Attempted to fix a possible crash in the main menu career options
- Fixed train interior views to remember the last position and viewing direction in some cases
- Added interior view tilt angle setting (defaults to 15 degrees)
Train editor
- Fixed train editor to not spawn new vehicles on top of old ones
- Fixed the train stopping option to stop some vehicles properly
- Fixed train editor to play sounds
- Fixed a possible audio related crash in the train editor
- Fixed a possible crash when exiting the train editor
Miscellaneous
- Fixed rescue scenarios to work for Meltham Model Railway trams
- Fixed various pathfinding failures
- Fixed a problem causing some objects (like speed limit signs) to be missing or look wrong when doing multiple runs without restarting the game
- Changed vehicle database to match vehicles also by name in addition to the vehicle GUID. This should help preventing modded timetables from breaking down if the GUID of a train mod changes on the Workshop
- Reduced chance of heavy fog and overcast sky
