Addressing Crashes on Certain Devices
Steven Universe: Save the Light Patch Notes — August 14, 2018
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hi All!
We hope that you are all enjoying the Steam version of Save the Light!
We've had some reports coming in about some devices crashing or hanging on an infinite loading screen. We looked into this, and we believe we have a fix, but we will need your help to test it.
Updating to the Beta Branch
We've created a beta branch and uploaded a new build that pops open the resolution dialog box, and allows you to adjust your quality settings.
For anyone who would like to test this fix, please do the following:
- Right click on Steven Universe: Save the Light in your library
- Click properties
- Click the Betas tab
- Select the beta branch from the dropdown (you may have to quit and restart Steam to see it)
- Let the game update
- Launch the game
- Select the Fast quality from the dropdown
Here is a very brief overview of the three quality settings:
Fantastic - This setting was the original setting that everyone is currently playing on the live build, and should still work for you if it worked in the live version.
Good - This setting has some optimizations they may help some of you, but most of you experiencing the crashing will want to select the last option: Fast
Fast - This setting is the one we have seen that fixes the crash in our testing, and will hopefully fix the crash for most of you. You will see a heavier compression on the textures (the original culprit), but the game should load past the problem loading screen.
Please, let us know if this fix works for you!
As for the other bugs being reported
We are aware of the other bugs, such as certain controllers not working as they should, and we plan to investigate those next. The game crashing/not loading was our highest priority, but hopefully this fixes it.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you all for your patience!
