Desaturation Patch Notes for 1.3.0
ColorBlend FX: Desaturation News — March 14, 2026
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hello Splatians. This a huge another quality-of-life update.
And not just that, Lord Ashen is invading different universes, too!
This update includes touches to almost every level, map, and optimizations.
Version 1.3.0 is in sync with our recent console release.
All placeholder sounds were replaced, fixed many potential softlocks mostly caused by physics clipping, and made some speedrunning skips not fully hard-lock you.
We are avare of the very small speedrunning fans out there, and their constant breaking of the game.
Increased graphics fidelity in general.
We had to rush 1.2.0 because of chocolatecake5000's softlock, this is everything else intended to be released in 1.3.0.
Here's what's changed
In (almost) all levels, added vegetation and props
Changed most post-processing profiles for better look of textures.
Fixed the deiplacement mapping in the Corrupted Castle and quantum labs.
Improved ray-tracing, environment maps and screen-space reflection effects.
Slightly alttered Slime AI to be more forgiving \
Replaced some generic sound effects with non-common ones.
Optimized all scenes to not contain invisible geometry
Seriously optimized the Corrupted Castle, we know that this was major disaster.
Changed some sounds in the Realm Of The Souls.
Wait, invading different universes? WDYM?
We are celebrating both the Pi Day and Desaturation's release on PlaySt... wait, Gordon. don't...
We are very proud with this release.
Some finishing words
Unfortunately, life isn't easy. Sometimes we start things and cancel them. Because of whatever happened with Unity's Runtime fee drama and among other things, in mid-2023after the low sales, I've decided that's the end of Desaturation. And I continued, moved on, and started a new game, Chessocracy.
However, things with the Unity drama went resolved in our favor, and actually, on a local event, Desaturation's way to the PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox route was reopened, despite the horrible Steam launch! Because of some contracts about pricing, and the work I've done on Desaturation, and to match the pricing, I had to do whatever had to be done. This is temporary.
And I've had some bad losses in my life, my personal Desaturation. And some complications.
Never underestimate game marketing.
And protect your closest ones.
