The Guild II Renaissance Patch Notes — May 28, 2026
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
We're Back, and here is Patch 4.6 (BETA)!
Greetings!
We are thrilled to announce the release of Patch 4.6 (BETA) for The Guild 2: Renaissance. This technical patch represents a massive leap forward for the game, introducing full Steam Workshop support, Steam Multiplayer, a comprehensive achievement system with 263 Steam Achievements, powerful new modding tools and functionalities, and much more. This has been a labor of love, and we hope it breathes new life into the world of The Guild 2. Read on for the full breakdown!
Note from the 2026 TG2 Team:
"We would like to thank THQ Nordic for allowing this to happen. It has now been a full year since work has resumed on The Guild 2's development, and seeing it finally lead somewhere is exciting. Let's see what the future awaits and what we can build together!"
Future patches will keep on rolling, with a mix of both technical updates and changes to gameplay such as Quality of Life upgrades, hotfixes and various improvements of all sorts.
How to acquire Patch 4.6 (BETA)?
For this patch, we recommend that you reinstall the game and / or verify game files after selecting 4.6 from the game's "Versions & Beta" menu.
Select "The Guild 2: Renaissance" from your Steam library.
Right click the game and click on "Properties".
Navigate to "Versions & Beta".
Opt in for "patch_4.6" branch.
Verify game files.
Here is a comprehensive list of all new features brought with this beta patch.
Steam Workshop & Full Mod Support
Enabled Steam Workshop: Subscribe to your favourite mods directly through Steam!
New Game Launcher: ModLauncherEX.exe is used to manage your list of active mods. It also offers modders the ability to create, update, and upload their own mods to the Workshop.
Modifications to the Game Engine: Guild2 is now fully mod-aware natively. The game works with mods as independent entities automatically and no longer requires any manual file operations.
Independent Mod Folders: The "Scripts" and "DB" folders are now completely independent from vanilla files. Mods no longer require copying over vanilla files for these.
Mod-Aware File Loading: Modded .GUI, .GST, .WLD, Scenes (.NIF, .SCO, .CMF), and Objects (.NIF, .KF, .KFM) files in an active mod take priority over vanilla files, with automatic fallback to vanilla if not present in the mod.
Mod-Dependent Savegames: Savegames are now mod-dependent. Modded savegames are stored separately per mod, preventing cross-mod and vanilla/mod save conflicts.
Mod-Aware Configs: Config files are now created per-mod, allowing modders to add custom entries. When a mod is activated, its config files are loaded automatically.
Mod Translations Support: Mods can provide translation files that are properly distinct for each language and no longer require any manual operation to be installed and loaded (we added a setting for languages in the launcher).

Steam Multiplayer
Steam Network (BETA): Play with your friends on the Internet using the new Multiplayer type, which allows you to browse the public list of games and even create your own!
Resync (BETA): Our brand new attempt at making Out-of-Sync errors a story of the past. This allows players to automatically resync their on-going game in case something goes wrong.
Mid-Game Join (BETA): This allows hosts to accept or deny requests from other players to join their currently-running game!
Please note: Since this is a massive technical update, there may be more work to do to get it right. But we are hoping to polish this (as a BETA) with your support and reports.

Steam Achievements & Rich Presence
We've incorporated Steam Rich Presence to make the experience a bit more social. Your friends can now see what you're up to directly from their Steam Friends list, including what map you're playing, your character's title and office, and more. If you have suggestions on which presence to add, please do so in the forums.
Steam Achievements: We've added a grand total of 263 Steam Achievements across 10 different categories, from humble beginnings to legendary dynasty milestones. Will you be the first to reach full completion? Also show off your achievements in the Steam Lobbies as Badges.
Custom Mod Achievements: In addition to Steam Achievements, we've created a system that allows modders to design their own achievements, with an entirely new in-game interface dedicated to them! Progress is saved per savefile and per dynasty. Modders can define custom achievements in DB/Achievements.dbt. Find more information in mods_info/Achievements_info.txt.
New Achievement Shaders: Custom GUI shaders were created specifically for the new Achievements interface.

Statistics & Economy
Balance Sheet Revamp: We've performed a complete revamp of the Balance Sheet. It is now fully dynamic: hardcoded lookups are gone. Modders may add custom categories and entries into DB/BalanceCategories.dbt for ChangeMoney() calls, with automatic localization support.
Transaction Tracking: Workshops now have their cart transactions fully tracked, with a new dedicated interface designed for this purpose. A new game filter was also added to make browsing transactions easier. However, we are aware that this looks a bit rustic and lacks some elements such as salaries paid to employees. This is why we will update this at a later stage.
Settlements Economy Overview: In order to make it easy to know how your favourite settlement's economy is doing, we are happy to introduce a new interface tied to Town Halls! This new interface depicts a detailed view of all items needed by citizens in your settlement(s), as well as shortages, surplus and more!

Modding Tools
DBT Editor (BETA): A brand new standalone application to help modders manage all DBT files.
Lua Bindings for Mod Achievements: New Lua functions for modders: CompleteAchievement, UpdateAchievementProgress, GetAchievementProgress, IsAchievementCompleted, AddAchievementProgress, GetAchievementCategory, ResetAchievementProgress, GetAchievementScore, IsAchievementUnlocked, GetAchievementInfo.
Added Gitse World Editor for modders.

Worlds
Random Worlds (GITSE): Immersion is important in The Guild 2. This is why we're pleased to announce that we have created a Random World Generator, which we (and you as well!) will use throughout the year to generate new playable worlds. Random map generation is now available, along with the ability to add or remove settlements.
Collaborative World Editing: We are working on a feature that allows players to design their own worlds in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer directly within the game.

Overhauled Localization System
All localization files are now consolidated in /DB/Languages/.
English files are the default root folders, with language-specific files in subdirectories (e.g. /DB/Languages/#french/). Multiple localization tables are now supported using the Tables.dbt indexer.
Similarly, speech files are localized within /sfx/languages/.
Game language can be set in the game's launcher settings.
Modders: always include your translations in the Languages folder with the # symbol to let the game detect available translations.

Guide System
Introducing the guide system to help you learn more about the game's different ecosystems. As of today, the information listed in the different pages are a bit limited. But we'd like to add more to this, so that players get the chance to know more about the intricacies of The Guild 2: Renaissance. If you'd like to contribute to new pages or even translating them, please let us know on Steam forums!
This new feature also introduces an improved version of the game tooltips, with interactibility and highlighted information, character views and images. Let us know what you think about this!
Guide pages are fully localizable and moddable.

"Office" construction tab
In response to recent community feedbacks, we have introduced the "Office" tab in the "Construct building" interface. This allows officials (highest office in settlements) to construct new public buildings in their settlements, in case a public building was destroyed somehow.
For example, a player may now rebuild a worker's hut if it previously was destroyed to a fire.
Current limitation: this is limited to human players for now.
Send us your thoughts on this topic, we'd love to know what you think we could do to improve this new system in the makings! For example, we could introduce a new cutscene event in the game where all officials vote on whether or not to spend the settlement's budget to construct new buildings and / or similar operations?

Other
Fixed ALT key breaking inputs in-game.
Added new crash detection system to diagnose important issues remotely.
Added Steam Multiplayer selection (visual indicators) that show if AvatarOverlays is set to 1.
The Guild 2 is now capable of displaying GPU-rendered textures (to circumvent packed textures).
The Guild 2 performs a file check when joining a lobby in Multiplayer (Steam Network), so as to prevent Out of Sync errors due to mismatching files.
Sub mods, "World Mods", are also available to be created and linked with another mod. This makes map publishers able to ship just their own map without having to create a new mod from scratch.
Added new Culling settings for performance.
Improved pathfinding code for performance.
Lua Coroutine Serialization Fix: Fixed three critical engine-level bugs that caused savegame corruption when Lua scripts with table upvalues yielded (thanks to pawelktk for the report).
On first boot, game resolution is set to the available viewport.
On first boot, game language is auto set to Steam's or the OS' language.
citylevel x: New console command that upgrades the nearest settlement to the specified level.
Added Arsenal and Guild House to quick navigation menu on the right of the screen.
Fixed an issue where some models would occasionally disappear on moving vehicles such as oxcarts.
Added Borderless windowed mode (selectable in the launcher's settings).
Added config entry "OverflowBuildOutside", which if set to 1, allows AIs to build outside of city areas. Please note, this implementation is in BETA and needs further testing. It is disabled by default. In order not to OOS in Multiplayer, please make sure all players have this setting set to the same value.
