Azoth & Ignis was released last night into early access. The following changes have been made to the game since the prerelease gameplay trailer was recorded.
Features
- Enemy patrols
- Improved enemy AI including evasion behaviors and distinct combat "personalities"
- Improved combat mechanics including knockback, momentum, hit response
- Improved combat controls allowing turn in place while casting or attacking
- Aurum Spindle item which guides to the source of the gold curse (see image)
- Pathfinding functionality in general
- Visual feedback when using the HUD cross buttons
- Add evasion animation. All references to "roll" are now "evade"
- Camera has initial orientation toward the next door on load/spawn
- Preview appearance options before final selection
- Preload all materials when the game starts, to avoid flashbang effects when loading to GPU
- Enemies wait until rooms are activated to start acting
- Add file load error handling
Bugfixes
- Doors shouldn't close when the player walks far away
- Count room total enemies/deaths including on inactive tiles
- Active enemies shouldn't disappear if home tile unloads
- Use of joystick on virtual keyboard
- Steam Deck should show right glyphs
- Anti-aliased fonts
- Improve legibility of the scroll font, which should now be bold and readable
- Level up confirm must require selection
- Disallow evade while encumbered
- Stop feet stamping animation while standing in place, in some situations
- Improve hitboxes on sword and balance animation timings
- Apply correct target frame rate for garbage collection, according to display frame rate
- Active status effect icons on the HUD should disappear when returning to the main menu
