Zombiefield Patch Notes — April 7, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
This update focuses on performance improvements
- Many players reported performance issues, so I worked on optimizing the game. It should now run smoothly even on low-end systems. For example, during testing on my 7-year-old laptop (with one fan disconnected and the GTX 1050 disabled), the game held a stable 60 FPS at start and goes worse with 200+ zombies lurking on the map.
- Weapon recoil and kickback now have proper visual feedback, making gunplay feel more responsive and satisfying.
- Zombies can now spawn not only in underground areas but also on the surface. They will start chasing contractors only after visually spotting them at a close enough distance. I’ve also added turning animations, so their movements look more natural when they react.
- The muzzle flashes on weapons has been reduced to avoid possible discomfort for light-sensitive players.
- M-pistol firing sounds was adjusted and brought down to match the overall sound mix.
- You can now vault over low obstacles, which makes it easier to escape when zombies are closing in.
- Running now works both for players who prefer to hold the shift key and for those who prefer to toggle it. If you hold shift for more than a second, it will toggle the run mode without needing to hold it down.
- Shooting zombies has become even juicier! Bright green splashes upon impact will help you know you've hit a brain-eater, even if it was lurking in the shadows of the corridors of underground bunkers.
If you're still experiencing performance issues, please let me know and include your system specs.
This update is recommended for everyone, as it greatly improves the overall quality of the game.
Thanks again for all your feedback — it helps a lot!
