Last Remains Patch Notes — April 10, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Dear players,
Since the Early Access launch on February 18th, the game has garnered significant attention and feedback. Through livestreams, videos, community discussions, and support channels, we’ve gathered a wealth of player opinions. We’ve come to realize that many players are drawn to the game primarily because of its post-apocalyptic survival setting in a modern Chinese city—a theme best expressed through PVE or cooperative gameplay (GVE).
After careful consideration, we’ve decided to scrap the originally planned "new player tutorial" feature and instead develop a full-fledged PVE mode. While we could have simply repurposed the existing gameplay into a basic PVE experience, we felt that approach wouldn’t be engaging enough. As a result, we had to delay the next update until May, and we sincerely apologize for the wait.
The originally scheduled mid-April tutorial update will now evolve into "Solo Survival Challenge 1.0"—a completely standalone single-player mode. In this mode, players must struggle to survive in a collapsing world, pushing their limits to last as long as possible. If a character dies, players must switch to another; if all characters perish, the challenge ends. Players will start in a randomized safehouse and can stockpile scavenged weapons, food, water, and other supplies. However, as time passes, zombie hordes will grow stronger, and resources will dwindle. Future updates will introduce local co-op survival (though host PCs will need to meet certain hardware requirements).
The existing PVP/PVE mode will continue developing alongside the new single-player content. While the two modes will share some assets, their progression and gameplay will remain completely separate, allowing players to freely choose their preferred experience.
Additionally, we are planning a story-driven campaign mode, where players will explore Chongqing’s ruins through the perspectives of original characters, uncovering the game’s lore while immersing themselves in a uniquely Chinese zombie apocalypse. This mode will be released in phases, with the full version potentially taking six months to a year to complete. Rest assured, we will see it through. Last Remains will carve out its own identity—a fresh narrative in the survival genre.
Finally, we’d like to share some heartfelt words: Thank you for all your feedback, whether encouraging or critical. Every complaint, every piece of advice, even the anger—it’s all valid. In this era of big data, we see your livestreams, videos, and discussions. The praise warms our hearts, and the criticism keeps us grounded. That’s why we’ve made this major decision—one almost akin to a full reboot.
We won’t let you down.
