Never Second in Rome Patch Notes — May 25, 2026
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Today's update introduces a few QoL improvements, the most important of which is an option to increase the speed of the battle rolls. Just like other similar settings, you can find it in the Gameplay tab of the Options.
I have also revised the way altars work: now they add a bonus to your legionaries' Combativeness as well, both as a unit and at individual level. It is smaller than the bonus received by the main character, but it can be very effective, especially if combined with other existing means to increase the Morale of your troops.
Changelog
All battle rolls, including the Threat/Kill rolls, can be sped up in the Gameplay tab of the Options.
In addition to the main character's Combativeness, now altars give a (smaller) bonus to the Century's Combativeness as well.
The other side of the coin is that altars are now twice as expensive as before.
If your Religion level is very low and your Morale is not above 60, an uncommon mini-event that strengthens your Discipline may trigger.
When there are too many actions available in combat, you can quickly scroll to the left and right with the "Q" and "W" keys.
In the tooltip of the Morale stat, the thresholds of each Morale Tier are now shown next to the name of the Tier and the associated modifier.
The Trade Misc interface now shows the century's Morale besides the main character's.
The log on the Battle UI explicitly shows which side has obtained an Advantage Opportunity; if the Momentum values are equal, it shows that neither side obtained it.
The formation modifiers on each fighter's panel will bounce at the beginning of a fight that happens during a battle. This is to make it more obvious that what is happening at formation level generates modifiers applied to the individual fights.
The appearance of a new active effect icon should be easier to notice in battles and fights.
Fixed a glitch that prevented the new Fatigue value from being displayed immediately when only Strain was changed during text events.
Small improvements to the text, mostly typo fixes.
