Nomad Idle Patch Notes — April 8, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
I've been working on a big balance patch. I'm going through the game, start to finish, testing every skill as I get them, and then testing them again a couple Areas later. I've been seeing the concerns about the games current balance, so I wanted to announce that I'm working on this.
It's clear that despite my best efforts, I've missed the mark on balancing Nomad Idle in a way that's fun and interesting. Moreover, some aspects ended up being a bit more grindy than I originally anticipated. This patch I'm working on should be done in the next day or two, but for sake of some reassurance that I'm listening to feedback, here's an outline of some of the things coming up:
- Bestiary requirements will no longer ramp up, staying consistent across Areas with the same kill count requirements as Area 1. Area 1's kill requirement seemed to be a comfortable spot, so I'll apply that same criteria to all Areas.
- Material requirements for Equipment will be reduced, starting at Tier 3, by 30%. Ore and Cloth specifically were accidentally made more scarce than other Materials. This was totally unintentional, so their requirements will be decreased by 50% instead.
- Massive balance overhaul. I want to make many skills more useful, especially Characters. Right now it seems like Characters don't quite have an identity because a lot of what they do doesn't really contribute to your total DPS. This will be looked at, as well as Summons, Trinkets, DoTs, and more.
- This is going to involve a few nerfs but A LOT of buffs, some of which are rather significant.
I look forward to finishing this patch up and sending it out to everyone. I appreciate all of the feedback. As of today, Nomad Idle has been released for 4 days, so I'm trying my best to stay on top of this stuff, but at the end of the day, I am a solo dev doing my best.
One thing I want you to hopefully understand is that no matter what I do, there will be builds that aren't great and builds that are "the best". I can't achieve perfect balance, but it can certainly be better than what it is right now.
Thank you, and stay awesome.
