The latest update has been released: Release v1.3.0f - Localization Beta
This update adds experimental beta language options for Spanish, French, and German.
Not Final Translations
These languages are available now on the main branch, but they are not final localization. The current translated text is machine-translated placeholder text, and this beta is mainly intended to test Void War’s multi-language font rendering before we move toward final translation work.
English remains the primary reference language. Spanish, French, and German are currently work-in-progress testing options and do not represent final translation quality.
What We Are Testing
Void War has thousands of lines of text, dialogue, events, tooltips, and combat messages, so full localization is a large project. We are using this beta to gauge player interest, identify technical issues, and understand what kind of translation workflow will make the most sense for the game.
The current translations are machine-translated placeholder text, so ordinary translation quality issues are expected. We are not treating these beta language packs as final translation passes.
At this stage, we are mainly looking for feedback on technical localization issues:
Font rendering problems
Missing characters or broken symbols
UI text overflow
Missing translated strings
Incorrect language switching behavior
CSV or language file issues
Major context errors that make gameplay text confusing or misleading
Language Dropdown
Each beta language is clearly marked as BETA in the language dropdown in the Settings menu. Players will also see an in-game warning before switching to a beta language.

Community Feedback
We are using this beta to gauge player interest, identify technical issues, and better understand what kind of translation workflow makes the most sense for Void War.
We may ultimately use professional localization, community feedback, or some combination of both. For now, the most helpful thing players can do is report specific issues with the beta language packs rather than attempting a full translation pass.

Community Translation Files
Void War’s language files are stored as editable CSV files in the game’s 'lang' folder:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Void War\\lang
Players who want to inspect the current beta translations, test fixes locally, or experiment with language edits are welcome to do so.

However, these files should be treated as experimental modding/localization files, not as final official translation files. Full localization is a large production task, and the final workflow may involve professional localization, community feedback, or a combination of both.
If you are interested in doing a larger translation pass, please coordinate with us on Discord first. We do not want anyone to spend a large amount of time on work that may not fit the final localization pipeline.

Upcoming Beta Language: Russian
The next upcoming beta language will be Russian. Russian font support is nearly complete and you can expect an update with machine-translated Russian soon.
New Encounters & Balance Changes
Finally, this update comes with a few new encounters, balance changes to the weapons system to make gunship builds more effective, and set of new merchant rumors hinting at strange events beyond known space.
