GeraScopia News — May 6, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.

Happy 2 year of GeraScopia! Im gonna get straight into the dev log.
I've changed my mind on a lot of previous changes I had planned, so I want to confirm what I'm going to and not going to do. Its a lot bigger of an update than I thought. Wordy stuff is at the end.
Content Update

It's Blue!
Outside of expanding every current area, I will be adding a couple new areas. At minimum I want to add at least 4 new areas.
I will also be adding more detail to already existing areas, giving them more identifiable landmarks to prevent completely getting lost.
Updated Banner

When the update drops, I plan on updating the splash art of the game.
Animation Updates

The game is getting a slight artistic overhaul; nothing major, just updating some inconsistent sprites and designs. This will have no major effect on the game
Updated Mechanics

Outside of reworking certain tools (The torch being a main one), there will be more movement options in the newest update.
Portrait Updates

Alongside animation updates, major portraits will be getting an overhaul as well. I've grown a lot artistically in the past year and I want that to be reflective in the final state I leave GeraScopia in.
Fishing Update
The Fishing Minigame will be getting updated portraits, waves, and costumes.
MISC. Updates
Gallery
More Monsters
New Random Rooms
New Endings
New Minigame
Word Salad DevLog
Yoyoyo! This updates been a while in the making and honestly something I've spent too long thinking about. Originally, I was going to make a sequel to GeraScopia, and a lot of this content would be put into that project. I reeled back eventually because I think the concept of "Gerascopia 2" mostly came from a financial drive, and now that my finances arent a huge problem (relatively for an artist lmao), I feel less inclined to create something like that. So, naturally, this update will be free. I will most likely drop the price of the game soon after the update as well. As the games life cycle sunsets I want to leave it as a very strong project that people may discover and revisit upon playing my newer titles.
I'm bad at estimating release dates and how long the update will take to "beat". I'm confident in a 2025 release, and I hope the new update will at least be worth 2 of your afternoons, and maybe a referral to a friend(lol).
Additionally, Im not gonna add achievements, at least right now (Im great at changing my mind). If I do, there will not be many. Like 3 or 4. As much as GeraScopia is an "Achievement Hunter" game, I don't feel like thats the intent of the game, and you should be finished with it when you feel content.
I'll see you soon! Maybe!
