Mothership Forever Patch Notes — March 1, 2025

I've been working on V1.12a, as the 'collapsing Mothership' bug has never sat well with me. I believe I've tracked down the issue, and along with a bunch of QoL improvements and fixes.
I spent the afternoon yesterday cheating with *enormous* ships and extra-heavy cheat torpedoes, and simply couldn't reproduce the issues anymore.
This is where you come in! Did I fix the issue, or have I missed a subtle edge case where it's still going wrong? Please let me know!
The fix is only uploaded to bleeding_edge as, of course, when you fix one thing, there's every chance you broken 18 other things!
Those fixes in full!
- Tidied up title intro sequence
- Swapped out a number of sound effects
- Improved detection and response to exploding mothership cores.
- Fixed issue related to very asymmetrical ships spinning out of control
- Fixed DistanceJoint issues related to MaxDistanceOnly
- Motherships with just Lasers, Missiles or Torpedoes will no longer constantly retreat
- Mothership Engine graphics now represent how hard the Mothership is trying to rotate to reach you
- You can no longer fire guns when the game is paused
- Tweaked slow
- mo effect so it's more obvious when hotkeying
- Move to slightly-less rigid joints for a more stable simulation
- Large performance boost when spawning in enormous high-difficulty motherships
- Fixed issues related to switching detail settings
- Fixed rare issue where a detached armour piece wouldn't self-destruct
- Fixed issue where motherships expanded beyond the maximum size
- Fixed rare timing issue that could lead to physics being attached to bad things
- Round-robin lazy update system applied to graphical rotations and parallax sprites for performance.
- Verify Joints now only triggered when necessary
- Improved Core cache for weaponry
- Numerous improvements to performance and stability
- Fixed issue where inactive Player Laser would disallow spawns
- Fixed issue where titlescreen mothership could get out of control
- Utilised Angle Limits to aid stability of larger motherships
- New asteroids!!!
