Seven Cities : What's next?
Seven Cities Patch Notes — June 16, 2025
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Happy monday Outsiders!
TL;DR
Thank you,
Seven Cities IS NOT DEAD!,
Low Money on bank, We need to find money,
This money will lead to recruit a new team (mostly art and UX),
I will, alone, provide update to 1.0 as a slower pace if I don't find money.,
It’s been 10 days since our last update, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support. Your messages, suggestions, feedback, and bug reports have helped more than everything.
As you know, Seven Cities is an Early Access title built by a tiny indie team. Since Major Update 2, we've released 14 updates, adding new content, fixing bugs, and improving quality of life based on your input.
After 5 years of hard work, I have to face a tough reality: Seven Cities hasn’t found its audience yet.
We've sold fewer than 1,000 copies, with just under 5,000 active wishlists (6,462 total), and 28 positive reviews on Steam.
That said, I still believe Seven Cities has strong foundations, but let’s be honest: Seven Cities is not yet good enough to grab the attention of ARPG fans.
Right now, we no longer have the funds to push Seven Cities to the next level. I can’t continue this journey alone and deliver the quality the game truly deserves.
So, what’s next? Is Seven Cities dead?
Not at all!
On a personal note, I’m about to become a father for the second time.
For the past 5 years, I’ve asked a lot from my family to pursue this dream. Now, I have to shift my focus temporarily to ensure our financial stability and take care of my loved ones.
I also want to protect IMV Studio from the broader crisis impacting many small studios right now.
(Oh and I need to go back at sport, staying 15 hours everyday in my chair does not provide good health condition for a person with diabetes)
But I’m not giving up. Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll work on rebuilding a stronger team—especially on the art side and UX—and explore three possible paths:
Fundraising with gaming and non-gaming VCs
Fundraising with gaming editor.
A Kickstarter campaign to rally support for the game
In the meantime, development continues, just at a VERY SLOWER pace.
This week, we’ll release a new update with:
New content (passives, specialisations, skills)
Faster XP progression
Bug fixes
WASD movement support
I’m also preparing a video series showcasing the diversity of builds in Seven Cities, from weapons and skills to crazy synergies.
This isn’t the end.
I still believe this is just the beginning.
See you in the Arpix, Outsiders.
With all my love,
Alexis
