Holiday Update 8.2.0.0 Released
Muffin Fight Patch Notes — December 18, 2023
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hello Muffin Fighters!
I am not the best author, so please bear with me as I walk through the changes!
In addition to the current holiday sale, the team over at Red Iron has worked tirelessly to put together a massive update for everyone for the holidays.
It is no secret that we are passionate about this game, and continue to update and overhaul the experience. This time around we wanted to provide more options for single players, a better multiplayer experience, and better connection between users.
NOTE: A huge thank you to everyone who helped on our discord to beta test the new version and to help develop new features! We welcome anyone who wants to join our discord :) (https://discord.gg/rediron)
I am very proud to announce the following changes just before the holidays:
- Version 8.1.0.0
New 3D Models & Chefs

After working through many iterations, we finally settled on a new chef design that we all love. This meant creating much more interesting and expressive characters. We added a new cast of characters, voice sync and voice matching, eye blinking and new fun animation systems and poses.

Above shows the improvements in topology and the clean flow of the new characters and designs. This also meant overhauling other 3D models such as the new chef gloves!
Social Space

Development and early releases for the social space went out last year, with significant testing performed over the course of this year. It's a large open space to meet and prepare in a lobby before deciding on their games. This is tied into the holiday events below! But the best part, is this let's you test and play with ovens and ingredients in advance. We went through many iterations, with this one being the most open and easy to learn and use.
Customization

Users now have their own little dedicated console, to rename and manage their characters. Right now it is mostly focused on user name editing and scores, but gives us a great location for character editing int the future! Especially with the new awesome avatars :)
Usernames

With the new social space being able to house a large number of characters at once, finding your friends and family can be daunting. We've added usernames and information to make it easier to find your friends!
Voice sync & Eye Blink

I hinted at this earlier, but the mouth now matches your voice and the characters blink and are more lively and animated. With this, a volume slider for voices and 3D character voices in the playing space have also been added. This makes it a lot easier to play a game with friends and chat as you go along! No more needing to use Discord voice in the background :)
Single Player
Last year we began benchmarking a singleplayer mode. The main goal here is to test and learn about the systems without feeling too pressured in a game. In this release the single player mode is more flushed out, with long term high scores saving, and a whole lot more fun!
Bots
The new bots are quirky and fun. They dance, they wiggle, and they play! It's been no secret that getting enough active players to fill a full match isn't happening all the time, and we feel that adding some robots to play with you was the best way to go. This doesn't replace the single player mode, which is still fantastic for learning. But it does provide new opportunities to play games and matches!
New LODs & Optimizations
I don't have a good image for this, but I spent quite a bit of time going through each 3D model with the team and optimizing them down for different platforms. We have some new goodies planned for the new year, which will help take advantage of this, but it means it is much easier to get a large volume of ingredients on the screen without slowing things down a whole lot.
Cross Platform Support
The game is now available on many more platforms and headsets. This meant making some very large changes to the interactions and systems, and bringing back things like highlighting when selecting objects. It is definitely recommended to have at least a 4ft x 4ft play space, but if you find something just a little bit out of reach - don't forget to use teleport to move around.
Holiday Events

We started sneaking in new holiday events late last year, but they didn't really make it into the game until this year. It definitely makes things fun and festive, and there is nothing like passing around presents with your friends on the holidays!
Other...
There are so many other changes and improvements that have been brought in. I think we closed approximately 150+ bugs, tasks and small changes on top of the big new features above.
I hope you love and enjoy the changes. Have an absolutely beautiful holiday. And have fun breaking and exploring the space.
As a reminder if you do want to provide some feedback - we welcome players to join our discord and help shape the next update! :)
