Old Evil Can Learn New Tricks
Living the Nightmare Patch Notes — August 31, 2020
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Greetings Killers,
What a month it’s been. This will be our final patch before the Beta ends on September 6, just before we launch on September 8! Scary! But we have such sights left to show you... with one last big update for you to play before release! The game has taken its final evolutionary turn, and you'll find a whole new level of challenge as evil has grown stronger.
Here’s what all is new:
- Almost every monster and boss in the game has had their sprites touched up or improved.
- All bosses have new moves and behavior and should, across the board, be much more interesting as well as uniquely challenging. We also made sure Tier 1 and Tier 2 versions of the same boss have extra variance between them. You thought two Wendigos were bad? Wait till you meet their Tier 2 version.
- One entirely new boss joins the carnage! The Straw Man/Wicker Man will keep you on pins and needles... and flaming nails! He’s a ranged boss that prefers to stay away from you, and will make you dance with crazy AOEs.
- You’ll find Tier 3 a bit more manageable. The ranged attacking Hunter has gone off to new lands in search of prey but you’ll find the Trapper is prowling around living up to his name. We suggest taking him out at a distance… And remember, you can disarm bear traps.
- We’ve tweaked some items for better functionality, namely Charon Coin, Bear Traps, and the Raven Feather. You’ll now see their maximum range as a radius.
- We’ve also looked at some balance issues, namely changing a few items that were over performing against bosses. We’ve completely changed Blood Rage as part of this. You no longer paste enemies in one strike, you do 1 damage as you have nothing but your fists, but you now restore ALL Actions each time you get a kill. Keep killing and you’ll keep on going! Fleshbound Text also does only 1 damage to bosses instead of wiping them out, and the Ad Extremum Terrae now only stuns bosses for 1 full turn.
- You’ll see a new title screen when you load up the game.
- Steam Cloud saves are also here.
While this is the last beta update, we’ve got a few major additions that will be implemented in full release that you won’t get to see before we go live: 2 more new bosses, a whole new introduction/mini-tutorial and ending, unfortunate humans wandering the nightmare, and a manual for more in-depth info (built into the game, but will also be a PDF in the game files).
Thanks for playing Living the Nightmare Beta, everyone! We do hope you’ve enjoyed your time in our Nightmare. We’ve certainly appreciated your feedback, it really helped hone the game extensively. We feel pretty ready for launch now.
Speaking of which, we hope you’ll rejoin us in Nightmare when we go live September 8! There will be a 10% discount for the first week.
Happy Entrails!
