Open World Game: the Open World Game Patch Notes — May 7, 2020
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Only one week until The Gratuitous DLC is out! First of all, since Steam doesn't share pricing while a game is coming soon, The Gratuitous DLC will be $2.99USD. I wanted to share a bit of my personal reasons on why that is and why I would even be making more open world game.
Up until a few months ago I was deep into planning the next Morning Person Games project, and I am very very excited about this next one. Unfortunately, due to the obvious ongoing issue in the world, my plan on how to fund this next project was pretty vigorously uprooted. I didn’t think I’d be here making more content for Open World Game: the Open World Game, because well... the joke was made. So what else is the purpose of The Gratuitous DLC?
For me, outside of the obvious punchline, this game was always an homage to the unfinished. So much gets thrown into creating (especially games), and so much more gets thrown out along the way. This can even include the very things keeping it from being the best it can be. There's an endless amount of factors that stop people from creating something the way they envision it, and I’ve always felt a deep sadness with how many things are never fully realized.
If Open World Game: the Open World Game is an homage to the unfinished, The Gratuitous DLC is an homage to all the overdeveloped. Sometimes the ninth sequel in a series comes out only to make money, but sometimes life rips a rug out from under us and we have to find a way to adapt to the circumstance. Either way, plenty of great things end up overstaying their welcome. This doesn't mean these things can't be enjoyable or even better for that matter, they're just fighting a different battle. We're doing the best we can to make this game better, not stale, and I think we have a good bit of fun in store for you!
I really wanted to make something that would not only help make the next project possible, but might bring a bit of distraction, and humor in this time. On the DLCs release day (May 14) I’ll also be sharing the first info on the next project, and will be sharing a lot more of the process of making it along the way. If you're at all interested make sure to follow us on twitter! I hope you enjoy The Grautious DLC, you’ll consider supporting the next project, and I especially hope we can bring you a few more good laughs (and gratuitous button mashing).
