Tutorial and User Experience Polish, and Other Fixes
Ostranauts Patch Notes — April 29, 2026
Aggregated from Steam, cross-tracked with Battle.net coverage on GamePatchNote.
Hey Folks!
Update v0.15.0.24 is now available on Steam, and your clients should be updating shortly.
This is a hotfix update to our "Fire in the Hold" update, which improves the tutorial and user experience, plus fixes several reported issues in the game.
Saves from v0.15.0.0 and later should work. Note that if you were experiencing issues in the older save, this patch may fix some, but others may persist depending on the cause.

Splitting a stack onto an item already on the floor should no longer delete the floor item.
Rolling over objectives should once again highlight items on the map.
Dismissing the last objective on-screen will no longer permanently shut all lights on the map off.
It should no longer be possible to map select and cancel actions to the same input.
Critical main menu and input binding reset buttons will now always respond to all inputs, regardless of mappings.
Escaping out of the keybinding UI while setting a hotkey will no longer lock out all input.
PowerViz mode now also shows dead conduit paths.
New game tutorial polish and extra steps.
Purchased residences at BCER should be available for docking now.
Games saved in planetary atmospheres should once again have gases outside.
NPCs stuck in a loop approaching, docking, and undocking from player should cut it out now.
New debug console command: info
Non-1080p resolutions should no longer have a mouse click dead zone near top left corner.
Inventory tooltips should no longer be stuck on screen when closing inventory UI.
It should no longer be possible to select and/or delete hidden objects (tiles, rooms) in ship editor.
Eyedropper tool in ship editor should no longer duplicate hidden tile objects each click.
Port authority clerk should no longer hover frustratingly just out of conversation range.
Several null and other exception fixes.
A large chunk of this update adds polish and some rework to the starting tutorial, to fix issues and add some extra steps where needed.
It seems the item highlighting for objectives broke somewhere along the way to 0.15, so rolling over objectives should once again work. This includes some items referred to later in the tutorial derelict, but which did not get pointed out when rolled over.
The NAV portion of the tutorial also had some editing and extra images added, to make it clearer, and to add more useful reference info.
The PowerViz was also upgraded to aid in the tutorial steps requiring placing conduits. Now, the PowerViz overlay will show unpowered conduits in gray, along with the powered ones in yellow, making gaps easier to see.
A number of users were getting trapped in the main menu due to either impossible hotkey bindings (e.g. canceling and selecting on the same key), or due to the key binding UI trapping all input even after exiting. These were fixed, and as an added emergency measure, certain buttons on the main menu always register to a click, regardless of key bindings.
Some players noticed their rotor ships stopped working, and it appears we sucked all the air out of every planet in a recent patch. This was due to an error parsing large numbers (greater than 1e38), resulting in zero gas pressure for most large-volume spaces like planetary atmospheres. These planets should once again have atmo.
Finally, a range of other user-reported issues have been fixed. From nulls and index errors, all the way up to disappearing items and inaccessible residences.
As always, there's plenty more for us to fix, change, and add! And we'll be continuing in roughly that order. In the meantime, let us know if this patch helps you out, as well as if it reveals new problems!
Best,
